Coolpix Shots - Nikon Coolpix L11

Sometimes, I just don't want to drag out my D50 or D300s and I just want something that I can take and go. In that regard, I love the Nikon L11. Though it's out of date (only 6MP versus the 16MP of it's newest competitor, the S6100) it's still a heck of a camera. However, I have been toying with the idea of giving the L11 to my oldest son. I know it's still got a few good shots left in it. In the hands of a photographer with an eye for composition, the L11 is a potent camera.

Until I can manage to afford the P7000, this L11 will be my grab n' go camera when I want to take photos but I don't want to be weighed down by the D300s.

What should be next? Macro or Teleconverter?

My next acquisition, thanks to my wife, will probably one of the two items as listed below. Either a macro lens or a teleconverter (for my 70-200mm f/2.8 VRII). Whichever one I choose will be in my possession in April of 2011.

I am still vascillating between either one of them and it's hard to make up my mind over which one I could use more, as I could conceivably use both of them.

The PROS:

1. I could shoot images close up that I have never shot before.

2. I could go up to Holland Park and be able to get in close to those flowers that I've always wanted to shoot close up

3. The 105mm can double as a great portrait lens if I need it.

The CONS:

1. The price.

Nikon AF-S Teleconverter TC-20E III $599.99 (retail @ Broadway Camera)

The PROS:

1. I've always wanted to be able to shoot beyond 300mm range, the TC-20EIII will allow me to get out to 400mm

2. I'll be able to use this as a stop gap lens until I get the 600mm and be able to shoot decent images of eagles and other raptors.

3. This teleconverter will satisfy my desire to go LONG and be able to be flexible in my wildlife shooting.

The CONS:

1. My desire to shoot macro.

As you can see this is driving me freakin' insane.  Well, no one ever said decisions were easy.  ~sigh~

365 Photo Challenge.

I've started a photo challenge which pits my photography skills on a 1 photo-a-day for 365 days. Each day I try to do at least one photo that artistically speaks to me. The challenge with Photo 365 is consistency; the ability to be able to pull out the camera every single day and to photograph one meaningful thing and blog about it.



I hope that I'll be able to continue this beyond 365 days at the same rate. I've managed to get 2 days down. Here's to 363 more days and quite possibly MORE.
